When you put your heart into self defence, you will find all of this—and so much more.

What is Taekwon-do?

Taekwon-do is a martial art which originates from Korea. It was officially named on April 11th in 1955 by General Choi Chong Hi. It was taught to soldiers during the Korean war and is still practiced in Korea and all over the world today!

The Grade System

Much like other martial arts, in Taekwon-do belts are used to represent yout grade. The first belt is your white belt- this is your starting point in Taekwon-do. With each new belt comes a new pattern, new floorwork and many other new things to learn. The belt order is as follows: white, yellow tag, yellow, green tag, green, blue tag, blue, red tag, red, black tag and then there are 9 blackbelt degrees.

                  1) Arrive 10-15 minutes early to class: We have a lot to prepare for before each and every class. Make sure you arrive early to give yourself enough time to get belts and equipment ready. Or maybe to have a quick chat!
                  2) No jewellery or beauty accessories during class: These can seriously injure someone. Please make sure to take off everything besides what is required.
                  3) No fighting or horse-playing during class: The studio is for serious training only.
